Peak 9 towers over the Stephen C. West Ice Arena, located on the Boreas Pass just southwest of downtown Breckenridge. On the left one may see cars parked at the Illinois Creek trailhead, a wooded trail with many scenic views. Though near to the highway, Illinois Creek trail seems strangely peaceful, secluded and remote from the nearby town. It's a popular spot for jogging, walking the dog, or riding horses in the woods.
